The members of St. Patrick's Band were rocked (like the rest of the country) by the onset of the gobal pandemic COVID-19, and were forced to abandon attending and socilalising at practice on Friday nights with other band members. For many members, this was a tradition they had followed most of their lives and heightened the depressive effect brought about by those tough times.

So in December 2020, the members of the band enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to play with their cohorts at estates and communities around Galway in an attempt to relieve some of the burden they themselves feeling, as well as spreading Christmas cheer to as many as possible who were also experiencing those same difficult times.

The band often turned out multiple times per week, playing Christmas Carols and Music all across Galway, including

  • Lurgan Park
  • Monivea Park
  • Corrandulla Nursing Home
  • Claddagh
  • Moycullen
  • Highfield Park
