St. Patrick's Band build individual pods in an attempt to resume rehearsing together safely
As the weather got colder after the Summer of 2021, the band were loathe to abandon practice again. The Band Committee (led by Chairman Peter Power) proposed a plan to build individual pods for each musician to separate them safely (also meeting the lockdown restrictions at the time for the number of people that could gather indoors) so they could continue to rehearse together.
The band sourced the materials and band members met on a Saturday in early September to begin assembly.
By the end of September 2021, the pods were completed and the band were able to resume practice indoors.
The plan was met with limited success. The dispersal of sound and limited view often meant it was not an enjoyable experience, and ultimately had to be abandoned when stricter limitations on the number of people that could gather indoors was enacted later in the year.
Though it did not prove to be the success everyone had hoped for, it did show just how far band members were willing to go to get back together and is a testament to the loyalty and dedication of all its members.
