New Band Uniforms and the introduction of female members News Segment
St. Patrick's Brass and Reed Band, which has been entertaining a succession of Galwegians since it's foundation in 1896, had a big day on Sunday last when after playing at 11 o'clock Mass in St. Patrick's Church, they paraded through the town in their new uniforms of maroon blazers and white slacks, together with their new instruments which they bought during the last year. The band, which will play at different parts of the city and Salthill during the Sunday evenings of Summer, intend to compete in the Band Music Festival at Leisureland in June. They will also play in Leisureland during the Boat Show which started on Saturday.
Along with the addition of boys to the band, it is intended that girls will now form a part of it.
Our picture shows the members of the band photographed with their Spiritual Director Very Rev. P. O'Laoi, P.P., St. Patrick's.
