A revived St. Patricks Band help bring the excitement of St. Patrick's Day back to Galway
Left Paragraph
It is a long number of years since this newspaper commented on the dullness of St. Patrick's Day in Galway. Now it is great to be able to record a St. Patrick's Day of tribute to our National Apostle. First to take the hint were the combined Rugby clubs of Galwegians and Corinthians who initiated the Johnny Glynn Memorial Final. Then followed discussions on holding the annual industrial parade on this great day. They failed. After a few honest attempts, Galway finally got a parade of sorts.
Now a really ambitious step forward has been taken and at last after years of trying the parade will mark the appearance of the revived St. Patrick's Brass and Reed Band. Could there be a better day to let the public hear this fine band then on the feast-day of the Saint it is called after? Galway has reason to to be proud of this wonderful transformation on Irelands greatest day.
