Come join the fun and contribute to an incredibly important Charity, Cancer Care West, with a night of fantastic music as the Galway City Jazz Orchestra pay tribute to the greats of the swing era. Get ready to groove and swing to the sounds of legendary jazz and swing artists in a spectacular live performance.

Organised by one of St. Patrick's Band own, Martin Murray has united members from previous charity big bands, Moonlight, Black Magic, members from St Patricks Brass Band and other musicians and friends from Limerick as well as Galway under one name for the event, The Galway City Jazz Orchestra.

Martin is currently fighting his own battle with Cancer, and because of the incredible support he has witnessed first-hand, but more importantly his awareness that everyone is affected by Cancer in some way, it felt right for him to choose Cancer Care West, the charity closest to his heart for the outstanding work they do.

Entertainment starts in the foyer with The Galway Bay Dixieland Jazz Band from 5:45pm with doors to the function room for the main event opening from 6:30pm.

"So during this Pancreatic Cancer journey (487 days today, April 25th 2024), on a day receiving chemotherapy from the awesome nurses in Oncology Day Ward in UHG a few months back, while listening to the greats on spotify, I started putting some ideas down. A simple big band gig, raise some funds for charity, Cancer Care West..

What has come from it you may ask?

I am overwhelmed by the love and support of the musicians in town who have jumped onboard, giving up their time to help raise funds for Cancer Care West.

We have members from The Black Magic Big Band, The Moonlight Big Band, St Patricks Brass Band, friends from Limerick and many more musicians all coming together in one band, under one name for the night - The Galway City Jazz Orchestra!

Music from Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington and more being performed on the night. With music in the foyer before the main event by The Galway Bay Dixieland Jazz Band. All happening in The Galmont Hotel in Galway City.

This night promises to be something else..all in aid of Cancer Care West! What they do is just phenomenal and they truly deserve everything we can get them from this event!

I know times can be tough, but I am asking people to find it somewhere in their hearts, to help support this charity.

Tickets are €25 each and at the moment are only available through eventbrite.ie but will be available through Cancer Care West and The Galmont very soon.
